OVERVIEW OF THE GENDER AND ENVIRONMENT JUSTICE MOVEMENT
Women's role in the environmental justice movements in America came from the progressive movements that began to grow around the 20th century. Women in the late 19th century developed interests and organizations that paved the way for social movements during the progressive era, these organization in the beginning were mostly made up of middle and upper class white women who could have the leisure time to be concerned about issues like this. Now women have exploded onto the scene. We have compiled a list of some of the most prevalent women's organizations in the the world of environmental justice.
